YOUR MEMORIAL ON LINE - The Why?
It all began back in November 2020 when my wife and I were attending the cremation of distant cousin in Milton Keynes. I remember standing in a small side room near the Chapel whilst awaiting the previous cremation to end. While we waited I looked down at my feet and in dismay I found that I was standing on a plaque on the floor. I quickly moved to one side and read the words on this stone which read: "In Fondest Memory - James Scott - Born 1926 Died 1955 - Beloved Son"
I remember asking myself, Who was this person? What was the story of this life?
These questions troubled me throughout the service which followed.
The next Sunday happened to be 'Remembrance Sunday' in our Church where I had been invited to speak the Invocation to remember the men and women who lost their lives in the wars.
In the Church before we went outside to the War Memorial, I glanced up at the wall next to where I was seated . There above me was another plaque - "To The Glory of God and In Loving Memory of JACK HAWLEY JANES. MM - Son of Charles and Lizzie Janes - Born March 28th 1894 - Killed at Hamel (Whilst carrying on his work as a Stretcher Bearer ) On April 5th 1918 -R.I.P."
Where is HIS story I ask?
Outside the Church when it came to my intoning the Invocation, emotion took hold; I could hardly finish with the words "WE WILL REMEMBER THEM" How? I have kept asking myself. So the idea for this site was spawned. This story tells - 'THE WHY'.
I hope this website will go some way towards doing "The How".
